DAY OF COMPETITION

FREE PUBLIC TRANSPORT WITH YOUR RACE NUMBER OR START CONFIRMATION
On Saturday May 12th your race number or start confirmation can be used as a valid ticket on all public transport within the Göteborg area, as well as on the local train networks between Alingsås-Göteborg and Kungsbacka-Göteborg. Tram lines and buses stop at Marklandsgatan, near the start and finish area. Timetables at www.vastttrafik.se.

RACE NUMBERS
The distribution of race numbers and ChampionChips to measure your time, takes place at the Expo at Frölundaborg. The opening hours are: Thursday 10th: 11 am to 9 pm, Friday 11th: 9 am to 9 pm, Saturday 12th: 9 am to 2:30 pm.

EXPO – GÖTEBORGSVARVETS SPORT & HEALTH
You pick up your race number in the expo – GöteborgsVarvet Sport & Health. The expo is located in Frölundaborg and Friidrottens Hus, close to the finish area. The opening hours are: Thursday 10th: 11 am to 9 pm, Friday 11th: 9 am to 9 pm, Saturday 12th: 9 am to 6 pm, Sunday 13th: 9 am to 3 pm.

CHANGING ROOMS
Changing rooms are located at Slottsskogsrinken, next to Friidrottens Hus (the Expo) for women, and at Dalen (north of the start) for men. Please do not leave any valuables in the changing room.

BAGGAGE STORAGE /RECLAIM
For men: at the ”Dalen” north of the start. For women: behind the Friidrottens Hus (the Expo). The upper part of the race number should be securely fastened to your bag, and your actual race number must be shown to reclaim your baggage. The opening hours are: 10 am to 7:30 pm.

SPLIT TIMES AS SMS (text message)
Would you like to receive all your split times immediately after you finished the race? Send ”RGV” space and then your race number to 72700. If you have someone who wants to follow your split times while you are running, they can send ”GV” space and then your race number to the same number, 72700. You will recive an SMS from 5, 10, 15 km and the finish. This service is handed to you by EST and supported by Telia, Telenor, Tele2 and Tre. SEK 35 per order.

START TIME
Start group 1 – starts at 1.30 pm. Each of the following groups will start at 2-6 minute intervals. It is important that you start in the right group. You cannot change your start group or your race number. Your start time and a map of all start groups are printed on the race number.

LENGTH OF THE COURSE
The distance is 21,097.5 meters, a half marathon. The course is certified by an authorised IAAF course measurer. A map of the course is presented on the other side of this confirmation. Keep to the right If you like to run in a slower pace – keep right, so we can help each other to make the left side a faster track.

TIME LIMIT
The finish closes at 7 p.m. To get the traffic in Göteborg going again we will pull "the rope" at Frihamnsmotet, at 17:55 (after 13.3 kilometers). Runners who do not manage this time will be transported back to the finisharea.

IF YOU DON’T FINISH THE RACE
A taxi from Taxi Göteborg, or mini-bus will pick you up from one of the water stations and take you back to the start/finish area. Don’t forget to leave your Champion- Chip at the finish area.

WATER STATIONS
Refreshments are served at ten stations (at the right side) around the course. At four of these you can choose between Isostar Sports Drink (on the first tables) and water. There is also a station with sponges after 16 k.

THE FINISH LINE
After passing the finish line please move forward 200 meters. Remove your ChampionChip and hand it in to the race officials. At each one of the four exits you will find fruit, chocolate and something to drink. Medical assistance will also be available at this point.

DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES
Top finishers will receive their prizes at Slottsskogsvallen at 3.30 pm on Saturday. All runners who cross the finish line will receive a GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon medal.

RESULTS
The official results will show your net time from the moment you pass the starting line to when you cross the finish line. The results will be available on our web site www.goteborgsvarvet.se.

LIVE-BROADCASTING
This year there will be five giant screens along the course. They will be placed in the start/finish area, at Götaplatsen and at Lindhomen. The broadcast will also be available through our web 1 pm to 7 pm and National Swedish broadcasting SVT1 at 13.15-16.00.

CERTIFICATE
If you’ve not already ordered a certificate with split times you can do this at the Expo for SEK 65. RACE PHOTO A few days after the race it will be possible to order your race photos from www.marathonfoto.com.

GÖTEBORGSVARVET HALF MARATHON 2013
2013 year’s race will take place on Saturday May 18th.

News 2012:
This year, we have made changes in the front start groups. To improve accessibility, the first three start groups turned into four. In addition, we changed the names of the front start groups. This means that:

After the first start group (Elite) the start groups are named 1 and 2 (formerly 1A and 1B). In the elite group there are 300 runners, and in start group 1 starts 700 runners. In start group 2 there are 2000 runners (formerly 3000 in 1B). We have also correspondingly reduced number of runners in start groups 3 and 4.

The changes above, led to the following effects for the later start groups: Team Gold will start between the start groups 5 and 6. Team Silver will start between the start groups 6 and 7. Volvo starts after group 8 and the Västra Götaland region starts after Volvo, before start group 9. Note that you do not have more runners ahead of you because of these changes. The changes are made to improve accessibility for all.
