Participants in GöteborgsVarvet HM will start in waves. The runners will be placed in start groups according to the rules below.

Around three weeks prior to the start we will send you detailed start information and then you will also be informed about your starting number and starting group.

Runners who carried out GöteborgsVarvet HM 2010 and/or 2011 will get their starting position depending on the best result from these two years.

1.2
Runners who compete in the special GöteborgsVarvets Seedningslopp / Pre race, a quarter of a marathon, arranged in March 2012.

The time you get in GöteborgsVarvets Seedningslopp / Pre race will be calculated into a half marathon time and this time is as good as a result from GöteborgsVarvet HM (see table A below). If you run both GöteborgsVarvet HM and GöteborgsVarvet Seedningslopp / Pre race, the best time will be counted - you cannot be placed in a poorer starting group.

Your time from GöteborgsVarvets Seedningslopp / Pre race can be used only for GöteborgsVarvet 2012.

Runners who ran a sanctioned race during 2011/2012 according to the distances in table B below, can be placed in the groups Elite, 1A, 1B, 2, 3 or 4 by sending us a copy of the result (for example the result list, cerificate or a link). Send us your result to varvet@gfif.se before the 24th of March 2012.

Runners who were registered for GöteborgsVarvet HM 2011 but didn’t start or reach the finish line.

Remaining runners will be put into start groups in priority after the date of their payment.

And of course, you must have a valid entry for GöteborgsVarvet HM 2012, to be able to use these rules.

News 2012:

This year, we have made changes in the front start groups. To improve accessibility, the first three start groups turned into four. In addition, we changed the names of the front start groups. This means that:

After the first start group (Elite) the start groups are named 1 and 2 (formerly 1A and 1B). In the elite group there are 300 runners, and in start group 1 starts 700 runners. In start group 2 there are 2000 runners (formerly 3000 in 1B). We have also correspondingly reduced number of runners in start groups 3 and 4.

The changes above, led to the following effects for the later start groups: Team Gold will start between the start groups 5 and 6. Team Silver will start between the start groups 6 and 7. Volvo starts after group 8 and the Västra Götaland region starts after Volvo, before start group 9. Note that you do not have more runners ahead of you because of these changes. The changes are made to improve accessibility for all.
