The walking event on Friday evening, the day before GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon, started in 2004. A special thanks to the newspaper GT, our co-organizer of the event Stav GöteborgsVarvet. We are also happy to collaborate with SATS, who is warming up all the participants prior to the start.

"The track is very beautiful. The start of the race is just outside Slottskogsvallen Athletics Arena - pretty soon you will cross The Little Änggården and start walking up the first hill. Here a stream is bubbling and the forest is magnificent. After the first hill, there is a slightly flatter part until you pass the small pond Axlemossen. Now comes a tough climb and the one who has poles will have a good advantage. Soon the courses highest point is in sight, the terrain here is a bare mountain region. At the top you will be served energy drinks or water, and you may now enjoy the view over large parts of Göteborg. Just after the water station you have walked the first 3 kilometres, and now you have to choose the 7 or 10 k course. An easier path will now take you down further through Änggårdsbergen and into something that is likely to be the favorite part of the walk for many, the Botanical Gardens. In May, the Botanical Gardens is most beautiful and you can enjoy a wide range of flowers and plants. Now the path continues along a narrow tarmac road through the garden, and connects to the GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon course, and the last kilometres through the park Slottsskogen and into the finish at the athletic arena Slottsskogsvallen."
