Göteborgsvarvet Half Marathon has together with it’s participants collected and awarded more than 12 million SEK to charity. Thanks to all participants who chosed to run Göteborgsvarvet Half Marathon for a good cause.

Run for charity:Ung Cancer

Run for Ung Cancer and run for young adults who have cancer or lives close to someone with cancer.

Ung Cancer, or Young Cancer in English, is a non-profit organisation that works to improve living conditions for young adults with cancer. By this we mean young adults aged 16 to 30 who live with or next to cancer. Ung Cancer exist to provide young adults affected by cancer with support, community and channels where they can express pain, grief and anger, ask questions, calm their nerves and be there for others in the same situation. The need is enormous and there is always more to do.

Run for charity:WaterAid

Run for WaterAid and run for changing people’s lives by improving their access to clean water, sanitary facilities and hygiene in the world’s most poor communities

WaterAid is an international organization working to change people’s lives in the world’s most poor communities. Since 1981 they’ve given 26,8 million people access to clean water and 29 million access to toilets. WaterAid is found in 34 countries all over the world.

Run for charity:Stadsmissionen

Run for Göteborgs Stadsmission and run for supporting and helping people in need!

Göteborgs Stadsmission is running an extensive organization to help people with vulnerable living conditions in Gothenburg. They offer, among much else, social and economic support to families, guidance for people who lives with abuse and homelessness, food distribution and different kinds of help to elderly with poor and lonely living conditions.

Run for charity:Ågrenska

Run for Ågrenska and you run for children with rare diagnoses.

Ågrenska is a national competence centre for rare diagnoses and a unique meeting place for children, adolecents and adults with disabilities, their families and professionals. The core of their operation is stays for children and their families. The common denominator for the families is that they have a child with a rare diagnose. The stays are for the whole family and gives the family a unique opportunity to meet others in the same situation, gain knowledge and exchange experiences. Ågrenska is a non-profit organization.

Run for charity:A Non Smoking Generation

Run for A Non Smoking Generation and you are running for a tobacco free lifestyle.

A Non Smoking Generation is a non-profit organization that has worked for a tobacco free society since 1979. We inspire, inform and engage children, teenagers and adults to create an environment where young adults choose a tobacco free lifestyle on their own. Through a tobacco prevention project and opinion polls we want to contribute to a healthier and sustainable world.

Run for charity:Ronald McDonald House Gothenburg

Run for the Ronald McDonald House in Gothenburg and you are running to keep families together whose children are sick and hospitalized over a longer period of time.

At the Ronald McDonald House in Gothenburg families are able to live with their children with severe illnesses while they are hospitalized. The families have been admitted to Drottning Silvias Children’s Hospital so the children can get specialized care. During this difficult treatment period the family is able to have a “normal” daily life or at least as much as possible. It becomes their home away from home when they need it the most.

Run for Doctors Without Borders and your run will save lives.

Doctors without borders, or Médecins Sans Frontiéres, is an international, medical humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives and providing relief in areas with great need. The organization was founded in France in 1971 and aid people affected by crises, war and natural disasters, regardless of ethnicity, religion, political views or other convictions. Doctors Without Borders is an independent, non-governmental organization and is not controlled by political, financial or religious interests. The organisation is active in over 450 projects across more than 70 countries.

Run for the Swedish Heart & Lung Foundation and you are supporting research that gives people more time to live.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death today and 2 million people are affected just in Sweden alone. There are almost just as many people that are living with some form of lung disease. Swedish Heart & Lung Foundation works towards helping more people have a longer and healthier life by raising money for heart and lung research. Our vision is a world where heart and lung disease no longer exists.

Run and help us to spread joy that heals children and young adults that are fighting illnesses!
The Foundation for Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital works towards contributing to a positive atmosphere filled with joyful things, experiences and activities that bring happiness and an increased quality of life for children, young adults and their families at Queen Silvia Children’s hospital. The foundation helps contribute towards the physical and psychological well-being of children and young adults beyond the ordinary healthcare.

Run for charity:Swedish Sea Rescue Society

Run for Swedish Sea Rescue Society and you are running to save lives at sea. The Swedish Sea Rescue Society started over 100 years ago by dedicated volunteers. This is still the case as it is not government funded and relies on membership fees, donations and volunteer work. All of the rescue boats are run by volunteers that are ready to help out 24/7 year-round. Swedish Sea Rescue Society is involved in 80% of all sea rescues in Sweden without any funding from the government.

Run for charity:Världens Barn (Children of the World)

Run for Världensbarn and you are helping children to have the right to health, school and safety! Every child has the right to play, feel secure and to have dreams for the future. Still there are
15,000 children dying everyday under the age of 5, one out of 5 children do not go to school and approximately 30 million children are on the run because of violence or conflict. This is not acceptable. This is why we collaborate with Radiohjälpen for the fundraising for Children of the World. Radiohjälpen is a self-governing foundation within the Swedish public service broadcasting group, namely the Swedish Public Service Television Company (SVT), the Swedish Radio P4 (SR) and the Swedish Educational Broadcasting Company (UR). Their goal is to raise money for projects around the world for children’s rights. The money is used to give children and families the tools to help themselves out of poverty.

Run for charity:The Swedish Diabetes Foundation

Run for the fight against diabetes! Nearly 500,000 people in Sweden alone suffer from diabetes and there is no cure.

Exercise is important for all of us but for someone who has diabetes or is susceptible to getting diabetes it is even more important. Regular exercise gives a more stable blood sugar level and it has a positive effect on one’s blood pressure and lipids. Furthermore it helps to prevent future complications related to diabetes. By running for the fight against diabetes, we are bringing awareness to the positive effects of exercise and at the same time raising money for diabetes research. Thanks to research people are living quality lives with diabetes but that is not enough. The Diabetes Foundation works towards building a healthy lifestyle with diabetes and a future without it.

Run for charity:Jontefonden

Run for Jontefonden and give joy to an organ transplant recipient! Jontefonden is a foundation for families with children and young adults that have or are going to have organ transplants. Our goal is to give these families strength and support by creating that little extra, and by giving them security and joy in their everyday lives. If you run for Jontefonden then you are spreading joy and are helping us support families all over Sweden. We usually live by the motto: moments of joy are healing. You have the power to give someone the biggest gift of all- healing power!

Entry fee: 1000 SEK

Included in the fee: Start number in start group 12 (or earlier if you are seeded), Jontefonden baseball cap, water bottle, training program “Pilates for Runners”, a group training class at Pilates Complete and storage for your bag during the race (1 bag). (You’ll need to approve that the Jontefonden can contact you by e-mail so you can participate in the training program and group training class.)

  • Contribution to the organization

    During 2011-2019 runners in Göteborgsvarvet Half Marathon has collected more than 12 million SEK to charity. News for 2019; each organization chooses the entry fee for their registrations. Thank you for contributing!

    In 2021, you can choose to run for one of seven different organizations; Ung Cancer, Wateraid, Stadsmissionen, A Non Smoking Generation, Ågrenska, Ronald McDonald House, Doctors without borders, Hjärt-Lungfonden, Drottning Silvias childrens hospital, Sjöräddningssällskapet, Världens Barn, Diabetesfonden and Jontefonden.
