83,064 runners were registered to run one of GöteborgsVarvet seven different races last week – 763 more runners than the record from last year. A sunny and warm half marathon was awaiting the runners on Saturday. In total, 48,202 runners started the Half Marathon and 47,491 crossed the finish line.
The winner in the men’s class was Ghirmay Ghebreslassie from Eritrea with the final time 1.00,36. Richard Mengich from Kenya was number two, 19 seconds after the winner with the time 01.00,55.
The female winner was the first time GöteborgsVarvet runner Worknesh Degefa from Ethiopia with the time 1.10,12 – which puts her on place 23 of all runners. Twelve seconds later Tadelech Bekele Alemu, also from Ethiopia, crossed the finish line at 01.10,24.
