GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon expands the activities for young participants

New for 2016 is Lilla Varvet Fun Zone, something for the youngest runners during the week of GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon. An arena for movement dedicated to runners of Lilla Varvet and MiniVarvet and their siblings.

Inside and outside of Frölundaborg there will be full activity during Sunday. We want to create something fun for the whole family with movement in focus, says Emil Forss, project leader for Lilla Varvet Fun Zone.

That the project is about different kinds of physical activity is not a coincidence.

We know how important it is for kids to move and this is a way to make them do it and have fun at the same time. There will be activities with everything from competing in athletics to kids’ yoga. We will have an obstacle run outside Frölundaborg and bouncy castles. There will also be face painting, the kids can meet mascots and a lot more.

The objective for the project is that the young runners should be able to hang around in the area also after running their races. Fun Zone is going to be open the 22nd of May from 10 am to 5 pm. And it is not only those who run the races that are welcome.

It is open for everyone. And the entrance is for free, Emil Forss underlines.

The youths, age group 14-19 years, previously had a race during the Sunday. But from this year on, they will run during the Saturday in the new race CityVarvet. CityVarvet starts on Götaplatsen at the same time as GöteborgsVarvet Half Marathon, and follows the blue line 4,3 km against the goal located on Slottskogsvallen. Lilla Varvet is for those between 7-13 years and MiniVarvet for those who are up to 6 years old. Totally, 15 000 kids and youths are expected to participate in CityVarvet, Lilla Varvet and MiniVarvet.
