Race infor­ma­tion – Specialvarvet

We recommend travelling to the start area by public transport.
The nearest stops are Botaniska Trädgården or Linnéplatsen. Plan your journey in the Västtrafik ToGo app or at vasttrafik.se.

Bus
Parking for coaches must be booked in advance. Information about where your bus should park was sent together with your parking confirmation.

Car & Special Transport Services

Parking
We do not provide parking adjacent to the event area. If you choose to travel by car, please expect traffic congestion and very limited parking availability nearby.

Drop-off & Pick-up
We provide dedicated drop-off and pick-up zones (please note: no parking allowed):

• Drop-off and pick-up between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM at Dalens IP sports ground.
• Before 10:30 AM, drop-off is also available at Slottsskogen South Parking. (Please note: access to Slottsskogen South Parking closes at 10:30 AM and reopens at 2:30 PM.)

For pick-up: please save the drivers phone number and agree on an exact meeting location for a smooth pick-up experience. After the race, participants can be picked up in the drop-off/pick-up zone at Dalens IP sports ground.

Volunteers will be present at both Dalens IP sports ground and Slottsskogen South Parking to assist and provide guidance.

The Course

Start waves, course & start times

Red course 2.4 km:
Red start wave – 11:00 AM
Orange start wave – 11:20 AM

Blue course 1.4 km:
Blue start wave – 11:45 AM
Green start wave – 12:00 PM
Purple start wave – 12:15 PM

Timing
Your time starts when you cross the start line and stops when you cross the finish line.

Assistive devices
You are of course welcome to use any assistive devices you need to complete the race.

Guides & accompanying runners
When participating in Specialvarvet, you are welcome to run together with one or more accompanying runners. This could, for example, be a guide runner, care staff, personal assistant, or family member. There is no need to notify us in advance.

Toilets
Toilets are available at the start and finish area, as well as at Dalens IP sports ground. Toilets are also available in the changing rooms at Slottsskogen Ice Rink.

Water stations
Water stations are available along the course and at the finish area.

Medical services
Medical services are available in the start and finish area.

Finish Area

New this year! Runners will enter Slottsskogsvallen in a counterclockwise direction and enjoy a slightly longer stretch inside the stadium before crossing the finish line.

Medal
All participants who complete Specialvarvet will receive a medal after finishing.

Prize Ceremony
There is no prize ceremony at Specialvarvet. Everyone is a winner and receives a medal after crossing the finish line.

Varva is coming to visit!
After the finish, Göteborgsvarvet’s running troll Varva will visit the finish area. Varva loves running — and giving hugs!

Runners Zone
After finishing, refreshments will be available and runners will then continue to the entrance park at Slottsskogsvallen, where the Runners Zone awaits. The Runners Zone is reserved for our runners, and participants will be treated to cake from Almondy, ice cream from Brixly, bananas from Chiquita, and popcorn from Humana.

Organizer
The race is organized by the Gothenburg Athletics Association. The surplus goes back to the federation's associations and their youth activities, as well as the operation of Friidrottens Hus. Each year Göteborgsvarvet also collects approximately SEK 1 million for our charity partners.
