Göteborgsvarvet Half Marathon
The profit from Göteborgsvarvet Half Marathon is directly invested in track and field clubs’ youth activities and the maintenance of Friidrottens Hus (the indoor track and field arena).
Göteborgsvarvet is organized by Gothenburg Athletic Association which supports track and field activities in the region. More than 50 track and field clubs and about 4,000 volunteers are involved in the event.

Since 2013, Göteborgsvarvet has focused on being a role model when it comes to environmental issues and to become an even more sustainable event. Thanks to our hard work and efforts we are ISO 20121 certified.
During 2011-2022 Göteborgsvarvet Half Marathon has together with it’s participants collected and awarded more than 10 million SEK to charity. In Göteborgsvarvet Half Marathon you can choose to run for several various of charity organisation.
The year was 1980 and a 1,800 registered runners raced the very first Göteborgsvarvet. It was a sunny day and 30 degrees Celsius. Today, Göteborgsvarvet is one of the largest races in the world and has a total of over one million registered runners.
