We’re delighted that you’ve chosen to run with us this year and be part of the experience. Best of luck, and thank you for supporting local sports clubs!

Start and start time
Start, relay exchange and finish all take place inside Slottsskogsvallen. The race starts at 18:00 and uses a “friend seeding” system. This means that those who want to run fast line up at the front.

The first runner should be in the start area 20 minutes before the start. Each team member runs one lap of the course before handing over to the next runner in the relay exchange zone, see the arena map below. The final runner finishes the race by crossing the finish line.

Colored bibs make it easier for both runners and officials to ensure everyone is in the correct place when entering the start area.

Access to the start area for runners 1 and 2 (Green and Purple) is between 17:00–18:00. Access for runners 3 and 4 (Blue and Yellow) is approximately at 18:10 (once all runners have started).

The relay baton is handed over across the exchange barrier to the next runner in the team. To make this easier, the barrier is divided into zones based on start numbers – find the zone that matches your team’s start number.

Race bib, relay baton, picnic bag
Each team entry includes one picnic bag. It can be collected at the Food Court in Entréparken together with your race bibs and relay baton before the start – between 15:30–17:30. The picnic is perfect to enjoy outside the arena after the race.

The team captain collects the entire team’s picnic bag, bibs and relay baton by showing the start certificate with the team’s start number. If you want someone else to collect them, simply forward the start certificate.

Information
The Information Center in the Entrance park opens at 15:00, with customer service available on site.

Changing & bag drop
We recommend arriving already changed, as no shower or changing facilities are provided. There is no bag drop at Stafettvarvet.

Toilets
Toilets are mainly located near Slottsskogsvallen, with a few also available at Dalens Idrottsplan.

Warm-up
Warm-up sessions led by STC will take place before the start.

Get to the start

Leave the car at home!

We recommend walking, cycling or using public transport to get to the start. Below you’ll find information on how to get to the race. Make sure to allow plenty of time!

Bike
Bike parking is available at Dalens Idrottsplan, see the course map.

Public transport
Choose either Marklandsgatan or Botaniska Trädgården as your stop. Plan your journey at vasttrafik.se or in the Västtrafik To Go app.

Car and parking
We do not offer parking near the event area. If you still choose to drive, expect queues and very limited parking availability.

Margretebergsgatan is closed to traffic 17:00–20:00
Slottsskogen’s southern entrance/exit is closed 17:00–20:00

During the race

Course
The course is 3.2 km long. See the Stafettvarvet interactive course map.

Number of runners
Four runners per team.

Relay exchange
Exchanges take place inside Slottsskogsvallen, see the arena map. The relay baton is handed over across the exchange barrier to the next runner in the team. To make this easier, the barrier is divided into zones based on start numbers – find the zone that matches your team’s start number. The fourth runner finishes the race and drops the baton in the containers at the finish.

Keep to the right
All runners complete the same 3.2 km course. If you prefer a more relaxed pace, keep to the right so we can use the left side of the course for overtaking.

Timing
Timing starts when you pass the start gate. The timing chip is in the relay baton, and the time stops when the final runner crosses the finish line. The baton is rolled up according to instructions. Times are recorded both per team member and as a total for the team.

Please take it easy during the exchange. Hold the baton at hip height when passing over the timing mat to ensure accurate timing.

Music and entertainment
Along the course, you’ll be met by music, cheerleaders and a partner zone that boosts the atmosphere.

Hydration station
Available after the finish, at the exit. See the arena map for exact location.

Toilets
Toilets are mainly located near Slottsskogsvallen, with a few also available at Dalens Idrottsplan.

Medical services
Medical tents are located at the start and finish areas. Defibrillators are also available at the Information Center in Entréparken.

After the finish

Celebrate together with a picnic
Once the entire team has finished, it’s time to celebrate with a picnic. Enjoy it outside the arena – see the marked picnic area on the arena map below.

Food court
In the entrance park at Slottsskogsvallen, our catering partner Carotte will be on site offering a smaller menu with pizza and snacks for purchase. Drinks include coffee, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. See the arena map.

Prizes
Prizes are awarded to the fastest team in each category (women, men and mixed). There will also be an award for best costume. If you can’t be the fastest, you can always be the most stylish!

Cut-off time
The finish closes at 20:00.

Toilets
Available in the Entrance park outside the arena and at Dalens Idrottsplan.

Showers
No shower facilities are available.

Waste
Help us by sorting your waste and disposing of it in the correct bins.

Organizer
The race is organized by the Gothenburg Athletics Association. The surplus goes back to the federation's associations and their youth activities, as well as the operation of Friidrottens Hus. Each year Göteborgsvarvet also collects approximately SEK 1 million for our charity partners.
