Göteborgsvarvet shall be one of the most sustainable events in the world relative to its size and shall strive for continuous improvement from year to year.
Göteborgsvarvet shall operate sustainably within all three dimensions of sustainable development by minimizing negative environmental impact, facilitating and promoting a healthy society, facilitating financially sound athletics clubs in Gothenburg and other parts of the country, and contributing to charitable causes.
Göteborgsvarvet shall address social sustainability issues such as equality, gender equity, and public health, and shall create events in which all individuals are welcome and have the opportunity to participate.
Göteborgsvarvet shall minimize negative environmental impact by:
- Serving 100% vegetarian meals to staff and volunteers.
- Ensuring that all food sold to participants and spectators is 100% vegetarian.
- Ensuring that all food products are, to the greatest extent possible, organic, locally produced, and Fairtrade certified.
- Coordinating and minimizing transportation before, during, and after the events.
- Facilitating and enabling the use of sustainable modes of transport within the organization, such as trains, public transports, and bicycles.
- Promoting sustainable resource use in accordance with the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle, and ensuring proper opportunities for recycling the waste generated.
- Continuously increasing staff awareness of and competence in sustainability matters through regular training sessions.
Göteborgsvarvet shall use its influence to encourage other actors to work towards sustainable development by placing requirements on sponsors, partners, and suppliers.
Göteborgsvarvet, including its sponsors, partners, and suppliers, shall comply with all applicable and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
