Before the start

Welcome to your Lilla Varvet 2025!
We are so happy that you choose to run with us this year and want to share in the joy of running. Good luck and thank you for contributing to local grass roots sport. We couldn’t do it without you.

May 18 is a day for young people to come together for a wonderful time for the whole family, packed with exciting activities. It’s perfect for children who have caught the running bug!

Start time and waves
It’s important that you start in the right allocated group and at the right time. Start times and waves can be found in the email/certificate sent to the person who entered at registration. The first wave starts at 11:00 am and the last at 1:10 pm. Be prepared to make your your way to the start line a few minutes before the scheduled time. The start is located at Margretebergsgatan and the finish line is inside the classic Slottsskogsvallen, just like in the Göteborgsvarvet main race.

Race bib
Pick up your race bib at Göteborgsvarvet Expo, located in Friidrottens Hus. Show the QR code in your race confirmation to have your bib printed. We recommend taking a screenshot of your QR code to make the process smoother. If possible, please collect your race bib on Thursday, Friday, or Sunday. Entry to Göteborgsvarvet Expo is free.

If you're picking up your bib on Sunday, make sure to arrive well in advance.

15 May: 11:00 am - 8:30 pm
16 May: 10:00 am - 9:00 pm
17 May: 9:00 am - to 4:15 pm
18 May: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (number bib distribution only, no exhibition)

Toilets & changing rooms
Toilets are available at Dalen’s parking area, Entréparken, outside Frölundaborg, and at Varpaplan. There are no changing facilities on site, please arrive dressed for the race.

Registrations
Do you have friends or siblings who want to run Lilla Varvet but who are not registered? No problem! Registration can be done online at goteborgsvarvet.se until 10.45 am on race day. With the reservation that the race might sell out, so to be on the safe side register in time.

Warm up
Warm-up is available at the start and takes place under the guidance of instructors from STC, accompanied by RackarAlex.

Catering
In the park between the start and finish areas, Carotte will be on site serving food, coffee, and other snacks.

Get to the start

Use muscle power, not engine power - Leave the car at home
As in previous years, traffic will be affected due to several major construction projects taking place in our growing city. We kindly ask you to leave the car at home on May 18 and use alternative means of transportation instead.

Below, you'll find information on how to get to the race. Make sure to allow extra time for your journey!
If possible, we encourage you to walk, bike, or use public transport to reach the bib pickup area and the start zone.

Public transport
We recommend that you take public transport to the start! Choose one of the stops Marklandsgatan or Linnéplatsen. Find your route on vasttrafik.se or in Västtrafik's app ToGo.

Car
Vehicle access around the event area will be heavily restricted. Limited parking is available at Dalen’s gravel fields for an environmental fee of 100 SEK, payable via Swish. There is no parking directly next to Friidrottens Hus. Margretebergsgatan and Slottsskogen will be completely closed to traffic.

If you plan to drive, be prepared to park further away – make sure to allow extra time.

Göteborgsvarvet Expo

Göteborgsvarvet Expo can be found in Friidrottens Hus, Mikael Ljungbergs väg 10 between May 15-17. A meeting place for training and health.

You and your friends are warmly welcome to visit Göteborgsvarvet Expo on the day that suits you best. Take part of the running world's latest trends among all our fantastic exhibitors, here is everything you might need before the start. This is also where you will find the bib distribution. Free entrance for everyone. Welcome to a world-class experience!

How to get here
The area around Göteborgsvarvet Expo will be heavily restricted for car traffic as a lot of people are expected during the days. Parking facilities directly adjacent to Friidrottens Hus are unfortunately not available.

The best way to get to Göteborgsvarvet Expo is by public transport, cycling or walking.

Number bib distribution
We recommend that all participants pick up their race bib on Thursday, Friday, or early on Sunday if possible. Bib pickup is also available on Saturday, but please expect longer queues as it’s Göteborgsvarvet race day and the area will be very busy

During the race

Course
The course is a manageable 1.3k for children 7 - 10 years old or 2.4k for children 11 - 13 years old and the surface is a mixture of concrete, mostly on roads through large parts of Slottsskogen.

Timing
On the back of your race bib, there is a chip that records your time. In Lilla Varvet, net time is used for all age groups except Boys/Girls 13, where gross time applies. With net time, your timing starts when you cross the start mat. With gross time, it starts at the sound of the starting gun. In both cases, the time stops when you cross the finish line. All participants who complete get a final time.

Happenings along the route
At the starting line, RackarAlex will be there to get all the runners pumped up. Along the course, the cheerleading team GC Troops will be cheering on the runners and boosting their energy with their enthusiastic support.

Hydration stations
On the longer course there is a hydration station. There is also water at the finish.

Results
Final times are updated live and can be found here or in our app - Göteborgsvarvet.

Medal
Everyone get a medal. Special prizes are awarded for the top 10 fastest in the 13-year-old classes.

Diploma
Diplomas to be filled can be downloaded on our website under Lilla Varvet or right here.

Meeting place for children and parents
Decide on a meeting place with your running children where you will meet after the finish. A good meeting spot is on the grass inside Slottsskogsvallen, where the running children exit after finishing.

Celebrate at the finish line!
After finishing Lilla Varvet, all children will receive a well-deserved medal, a banana, and water. Social media stars Fanny Josefine and Patrik Widell will be at the finish line to hand out medals.

The Entrance park
Don’t miss the chance to visit Entréparken before heading home, where you can find fun activities, tricky challenges and cake from our partners Nordea, ASICS, Almondy, and STC.

Catering
Carotte will be in the park between the start and finish areas, serving a wide selection of food and drinks.

Family area

A warm welcome to Göteborgsvarvet family area.
Plan for a joy-filled day full of speed and fun in our family area. Here you will find activities and entertainment for the whole family. In addition, it is a perfect audience place to watch the children take on Lilla Varvet.

Location: Slottsskogen, between Björngårdsvillan and Villa Belparc.
Date: May 17: 10.00 am - 4:00 pm and May 18: 10.00 am - 4:00 pm.

Minivarvet
In the family area, in addition to Lilla Varvet, there are also our races for the youngest between 0-6 years, Minivarvet and Minivarvet Trail. Here the children can run as many laps as their legs can carry them.

Varva
In the family area, you will meet our very own running troll who has longed to meet you for a very long time! Varva is a sprightly troll who loves to move. And most of all run, of course! Varva will appear on stage and of course cheer on the children who will run our races.

Sustainability

Your effort makes a difference! Three important points about how you as a runner can help us in our sustainability work.

Travel by train/public transportation to the event.
Sort your litter and throw it in the correct bin at the designated place.
At the water stations along the track - throw your mugs into the white "big bags".

Thanks to our work, the event has received an environmental diploma, is certified according to the international standard ISO-20121.

Organizer
The race is organized by the Gothenburg Athletics Association. The surplus goes back to the federation's associations and their youth activities, as well as the operation of Friidrottens Hus. Each year Göteborgsvarvet also collects approximately SEK 1 million for our charity partners.
